 What do I need to make a booking?

 How can I cancel a booking?

    

     IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE ONLINE SYSTEM (ie: have a username & password):

  • Log-in to the booking system
  • Click: View Previous Bookings
  • Click: Cancel

     The DFS Middle East Travel team will take necessary action send you confirmation that the ticket has been cancelled (and if applicable) refunded

Payments

 How can I pay?

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT: Cash; Credit Card or Wire Transfer

  • In person at any of the DFS Travel Offices
  • Over the phone (with credit card details)
  • Over email/fax (with credit card details)

 Is it safe to make payment online?

 

We use industry standard secure encryption software called SSL (Secure Socket Layer). SSL works by encrypting all communications between your computer and the DFS Middle East web server so the information (including your credit card number, name and address) cannot be intercepted by unwanted parties.


To ensure the highest standard of security, DFS Middle East will only allow bookings to be made when passengers use browsers that support SSL.

 Why did my booking fail?

 

PAYMENT PROBLEM

Your credit card may have been declined.

Our travel agents would already have been notified of this problem and will ask that you submit another valid credit card or check with your bank to make sure the transaction is not being stopped.

INTERNET CONNECTION

 Are there any charges I should be aware of?

 

  • $20 administration fee is applied per date change/route change/cancellation with more than 24 hours notice
  • Excess baggage fee (if applicable) will be charged at $10.00 per kg
  • 50% of the applicable fare is charged for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice
  • 100% of the applicable fare will be charged for a “NO SHOW” flight

If non-US citizens apply through the Embassy, the processing time is much longer and involves interviews and approvals from UAE authorities.

You must have a copy of the visa with you on arrival. The original visa will be waiting for you when you arrive at the UAE airport.

 Do I need a Visa for Afghanistan?

 

Afghan Visa’s are only required for those passengers who will be leaving the base.

 How can I get a Visa for UAE?

 

DFS Middle East can assist you in getting a Transit Visa (also known as: 96 hour visa). We require the following documents to be sent to us 5 working days before your flight:

  • Transit Visa Application Form (Completed in Full)
  • Passport Copy
  • Photo (passport size, no bigger than 30KB)

Luggage

 How much luggage can I take?

 

The amount of luggage you may take will depend on the aircraft you’re travelling on. To find out what aircraft you would be travelling on please check your itinerary or contact: travel@dfsmiddleeast.com.

Please see below details:

Beech 1900 / Embraer 120 Aircrafts:

  • Total luggage allowance (check-in & hand luggage combined) per passenger is 30kg/66lbs.
  • Excess luggage is not permitted under any circumstances (due to available space on the aircraft)

Boeing 737 Aircraft:

  • Total check in Luggage allowance per passenger is 30kg/66lbs.
  • Hand luggage is restricted to 1 piece only and not to weigh over 7kgs/15lbs.
  • Excess luggage over 30kgs/66lbs per passenger is chargeable at $10 per kilo and is payable at check in - NO exceptions. Excess is transported on a space available basis.
  • Due to health and safety reasons each piece of checked in luggage must not weigh more that 32kgs/70lbs. If an individual bag is over this limit it will not be accepted

 Can I take excess luggage?

 

NO

  • If you are travelling on the Beech 1900 or Embraer 120 Aircrafts

  • Excess luggage over 30kgs/66lbs per passenger is chargeable at $10 per kilo and is payable at check in

Seating

 Can I book Business Class seats?

 

NO. At this stage you are not able to purchase business class seats.

 Can I request specific seats?

 

YES. You are able to request business class seats, however these are never guaranteed and will only be provided on a space available basis and as per DFS Middle East Management.

Dubai International Airport

 How do I transit from one Terminal to another?

 

IF YOU DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA OR HAVE A VISA TO ENTER THE UAE:

Proceed though immigration; collect checked in baggage (if applicable); proceed to the

appropriate terminal either by free DCA shuttle or by Taxi.

 

OR

 

Do not proceed through immigration; proceed straight to the “Airport Transfer Desk”; present your onwards ticket at which point you will be transferred by airport transport to the appropriate terminal.

(Please note: This is only for passengers who do NOT have checked-in luggage or have arranged with Marhaba for your luggage to be transferred). As you are not going through immigration, you similarly will NOT be permitted to the luggage carousel to collect any checked-in luggage)

IF YOU REQUIRE A VISA FOR THE UAE, BUT DO NOT HAVE ONE:

Proceed to the Marhaba visa desk and apply for a visa when you arrive into the UAE; then proceed though immigration (with your visa); collect checked in baggage (if applicable); proceed to the appropriate terminal either by free DCA shuttle or by Taxi.

Body Armor

 Can I take my body armor on board?

 

Body armor is not permitted in hand luggage. It should be in your checked-in luggage only.

 What happens to body armor when I arrive at the Airport?

 

  • When transferring through Dubai Airport Terminals your body armor will be seized by the airport authorities and required to produce details of your next onwards flight.
  • You will be issued with a claim coupon based on this information.
  • The airport authorities will ensure that the items are delivered to the passenger, at the appropriate terminal prior to departure (according to the flight information previously provided).

 Can I request different meals?

 

YES. Please contact: travel@dfsmiddleeast.com or +97150 554 6348 24 hours prior to your flight.

 Can I transport weapons on the flight?

 

This is determined on a case by case basis and at the discretion of the Operator; Airport and/or Military authorities. In order to enquire about transporting weapons, the following is required:

  • 48 hours notice
  • Full contact details of the accompanying passenger:
  • Full Name, Nationality & Passport Number
  • Company name, Company contact number, Passengers supervisor
  • Letter stating what weapons the passenger would like to be transported; why they are transporting them; confirmation that the weapons will be packed with no magazine fitted

 Is alcohol permitted on the base?

 

NO. Alcohol is strictly forbidden on any military bases. You are advised not to purchase any alcohol at Dubai Duty Free as all luggage is scanned/searched on arrival in Afghanistan.
